Rangers shutout by Angels at Angel Stadium

The Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim destroyed the Texas Rangers yesterday at Angel Stadium with the Angels securing the victory 11 to 0. It was a great baseball game that fans with Angels tickets will remember for quite some time.

Angels pitcher Ervin Santana (5.10 ERA) got the win, while Tommy Hunter (4.10 ERA) took the loss for the Rangers. Ervin Santana went 9 solid innings for the Angels, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and 2 strikeouts. The Rangers’s starter Tommy Hunter went 2.1 innings, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 6 earned runs with 2 walks and one strikeout. Dustin Nippert (4.01), Doug Mathis (3.16), Jason Grilli (5.48), and Pedro Strop (7.50) also pitched for the Rangers. With the win, Santana’s record goes to 8-8, while Hunter drops to 9-5.

In addition to the 11 runs, the Angels put up 12 hits and committed no errors. Maicer Izturis and Bobby Abreu tied for most hits for the Angels with 3 hits, followed by Vladimir Guerrero with 2 hits. Chone Figgins had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Rangers didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. David Murphy could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Rangers got no runs, 7 hits and 3 errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Sam Holbrook, Mike Winters, Dan Iassogna and Larry Vanover. There were 40,484 Angels ticket holders in attendance at Angel Stadium.

The win puts the Angels at a record of 92-64, still leading their division, while the loss brings the Rangers to 85-71, (7 games behind first place in the division). The Rangers will try to return the favor tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
