The Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim barely got a “W” over the Oakland Athletics yesterday at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum with the Angels winning 4 to 2. Angels pitcher Scott Kazmir (5.40 ERA) got the win, while Ben Sheets (4.96 ERA) took the loss for the Athletics. Scott Kazmir went 6.1 solid innings for the Angels, allowed 5 hits, one home run and one earned run with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Angels was Kevin Jepsen (5.66), and Fernando Rodney (2.70). The Athletics’s starter Ben Sheets went 6 innings, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Henry Rodriguez (5.06), and Cedrick Bowers (2.45) also pitched for the Athletics. With the win, Kazmir’s record goes to 5-5, while Sheets falls to 2-5. Brian Fuentes earned the save for the Angels, bringing his saves up to 8.
In addition to the 4 runs, the Angels managed 6 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Angels, as nobody managed more than 2 hits.
