The Seattle Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim in 10 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. Mariners pitcher Brandon League (3.64 ERA) got the win, while Kevin Jepsen (4.64 ERA) took the loss for the Angels. Jason Vargas went 7.2 solid innings for the Mariners, allowed 4 hits, one home run and one earned run with one walk and 9 strikeouts. The Angels’s starter Ervin Santana went 7 innings, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Fernando Rodney (3.29), and Brian Fuentes (3.81) also pitched for the Angels. With the win, League’s record goes to 6-6, while Jepsen drops to 2-2. David Aardsma earned the save for the Mariners, bringing his saves up to 17.
In addition to the 2 runs, the Mariners put up 5 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Mariners, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Angels didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Erick Aybar could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Angels got one run, 6 hits and no errors.
